About the job
Build and validate simulation models and physical tests to assess the mechanical reliability of implantable neural devices.
What you'll do
- Develop explicit-dynamics FEA models, calibrate them with test data, and validate predictions.
- Own mechanical testing from fixture design and specimen preparation through testing, analysis, and simulation correlation.
- Support reliability work involving impact, fatigue, pressure, vibration, seals, thermal behavior, and accelerated lifetime testing.
What they ask for
- MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- 2+ years of hands-on explicit-dynamics FEA experience and 2+ years of hands-on mechanical testing experience.
- Experience characterizing polymer or composite materials, including rate- and temperature-dependent behavior.
- Hands-on experience with assembly, fabrication, or test-equipment construction and calibration; proficiency in mechanical design using SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
Nice to have
- Direct high-strain-rate testing, DIC, or quantitative simulation-to-test correlation experience.
- Constitutive model calibration, medical device or aerospace reliability, Python, or lab-instrumentation troubleshooting experience.
