About the job

Owns the end-to-end performance model for an optical vector-matrix multiplication engine, using simulations and measurements to guide signal-path architecture and performance trade-offs.

What you'll do

  • Build and maintain optical/electrical link and power budgets and a behavioral model of the full TX-channel-RX signal path.
  • Analyze signal impairments and allocate accuracy targets; run Monte Carlo and time-domain simulations to quantify margins.
  • Correlate models with lab and silicon measurements, and advise architecture decisions on throughput, efficiency, latency, and power.

What they ask for

  • MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a closely related field, emphasizing communication theory, signal processing, or mixed-signal systems.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in communication systems architecture, link-budget/signal-chain modeling, or performance modeling of optical or high-speed electrical communication systems.
  • Deep knowledge of communication theory and signal processing, including modulation, equalization, synchronization and estimation, quantization, and coding gain.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Python (NumPy/SciPy) and/or MATLAB/Simulink; demonstrated ownership of an end-to-end optical or RF link budget (or equivalent SNR/noise budget).

Nice to have

  • Experience with optical communication links, coherent or direct-detection architectures, or high-speed SerDes/networking standards (Ethernet, PCIe, OIF-CEI).
  • System-level modeling of high-speed data converters (ADC/DAC), Cadence Virtuoso and Spectre, lab characterization or bring-up, or photonic integrated circuits/silicon photonics.
