About the job
Design and validate thermal, structural, and opto-mechanical solutions for silicon photonics and electronic packages, using simulations and experiments to improve performance and reliability.
What you'll do
- Model thermal and structural behavior, including die-package interactions, solder fatigue and creep, moisture-related stress, and crack propagation.
- Run optical-component stress simulations and develop thermal validation and laser performance test methods.
- Support opto-mechanical system design and recommend design, process, or material changes based on simulations and reliability testing.
What they ask for
- PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a similar discipline (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of experience developing silicon photonics ICs from concept to high-volume manufacturing.
- Experience in product development of optics or photonic systems, applied research on Silicon Photonic ICs and Systems, and hands-on experience with Silicon Photonics products.
- Proficient in Ansys tools.
Nice to have
- Experience with design tools and fixtures for alignment, fabrication, gluing, and assembly of lasers, interferometers, and optical components.
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally and defining system performance and component specifications.
