About the job

Develop and deploy the compute hardware systems that power OpenAI’s humanoid robots, from architecture and PCB design through validation and integration.

What you'll do

  • Own compute hardware architecture and development, including component selection, schematics, PCB layout, validation, and deployment.
  • Design high-speed interfaces, onboard power conversion, and HDI PCBs; lead board bring-up, characterization, and debugging.
  • Integrate compute hardware with thermal, mechanical, EMC, and software teams for robotic systems.

What they ask for

  • 5+ years developing compute hardware or similarly complex high-speed electronics, with ownership of complete designs.
  • Hands-on measurement and debugging skills, including oscilloscope use, probing, and interface validation.
  • Strong knowledge of high-speed digital interfaces, signal integrity, power integrity, power electronics, and complex HDI PCB design.
  • Ability to use a Linux shell, write simple shell scripts, connect over SSH, and perform basic Ethernet and network troubleshooting.

Nice to have

  • Experience designing around AI inference SoCs or accelerators.
  • Experience bringing compute hardware into production and resolving fabrication, assembly, or test issues with manufacturing partners.
