About the job

Own and improve the end-to-end powder synthesis lab workflow, stabilizing processes and translating lessons into requirements for an automated lab.

What you'll do

  • Manage powder synthesis operations from dispensing through characterization; increase throughput while ensuring trustworthy data.
  • Identify process failure modes, apply statistical process control and design of experiments, and troubleshoot equipment and data-integrity issues.
  • Develop operator workflows and quality practices, and collaborate across research, lab, and software teams on automation requirements.

What they ask for

  • Degree in chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, or a related field, with hands-on experience in solid-state chemistry, ceramics, or powder processing.
  • Experience as a process engineer or in a closely adjacent role in a high-mix R&D, pilot, or manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of SPC, six sigma or lean concepts, and DOE; comfort with JMP or Minitab.
  • Hands-on familiarity with powder or ceramic characterization techniques such as XRD or SEM, and high-temperature ceramic processing.

Nice to have

  • Experience in battery materials or other powder- and ceramic-heavy processes.
  • Experience scaling R&D or pilot processes toward higher throughput or automation.

Pay

USD 225,000-300,000 base salary

Tools

JMP, Minitab, X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM)

AI focus
