About the job

Develops and performs materials characterization measurements, scales measurement workflows, and helps build automated feedback loops between experiments and AI-guided discovery.

What you'll do

  • Develop high-fidelity thermodynamic, transport, and spectroscopic measurements and rapid property-measurement schemes.
  • Build automated data-analysis pipelines and autonomous characterization systems with AI and engineering teams.
  • Commission instrumentation and establish data standards, documentation, and measurement quality practices.

What they ask for

  • PhD in Physics, Materials Science, or a related field, with 5+ years of hands-on physical property characterization experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in electronic and magnetic measurements, including resistivity, Hall effect, magnetometry, and heat capacity.
  • Strong background in cryogenic measurements and low-noise techniques, including lock-in methods, shielding/grounding, and precision instrumentation.
  • Impactful research shown through top-tier publications and/or inventions, and recognized field leadership.

Nice to have

  • Experience automating physical property measurement platforms, computational prediction and experimental characterization loops, or spectroscopic techniques.
  • Experience with lab buildout, instrument commissioning, process safety, large-scale data management, LIMS, or national laboratories/user facilities.
