About the job

Researches and builds motion-planning software that enables autonomous trucks to make safe, comfortable decisions and generate trajectories in complex real-world driving situations.

What you'll do

  • Design and implement decision-making and trajectory-generation algorithms, accounting for safety, comfort, reliability, and uncertainty.
  • Bring robotics and machine-learning techniques into a production-grade, safety-critical system and integrate planning algorithms into the production stack.
  • Collaborate with ML, prediction, and other teams; diagnose and tune system behavior using visualization tools.

What they ask for

  • MS with 1-2 years of relevant experience, or PhD, in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field.
  • Strong production software development skills in C++.
  • Robotics expertise in at least one of path planning, motion planning, trajectory generation, behavior planning, or optimal control.
  • Strong math and physics fundamentals, and experience refining planning algorithms on a real-world robotic or vehicle platform.

Nice to have

  • PhD + 1-2 years or MS + 3-4 years of relevant experience.
  • Exposure to machine-learning techniques, familiarity with autonomy safety frameworks, or prior safety-critical systems experience.

Pay

USD 130,000–220,000 per-year-salary (base salary)

Tools

C++, Python, CasADi, Acados, git, ROS, webviz

AI focus

Applies machine learning and probabilistic, multi-future scenario representations to autonomous-truck planning; preferred exposure includes deep learning, imitation learning, transformer-based models, and diffusion-based models.
