About the job

Maintains and improves the programming language and compiler tools physicists use to run experiments on QuEra’s neutral-atom quantum computers, coordinating with machine and control-system teams.

What you'll do

  • Maintain the domain-specific language and compilation stack, including bug fixes, releases, testing, CI, and dependencies.
  • Help machine and testbed teams build and troubleshoot experiment programs, and coordinate compiler integration with the control system.
  • Improve performance and usability through focused fixes, documentation, examples, and feedback-driven roadmap work.

What they ask for

  • Strong Python skills, including type hints, packaging, and testing (pytest).
  • Experience working across team boundaries to agree on interfaces, coordinate changes, and debug issues across systems.
  • Experience debugging unfamiliar code and reducing complex failures to minimal reproductions.
  • Familiarity with the software lifecycle, including version control, code review, testing, CI/CD, logging, profiling, debugging, and documentation.

Nice to have

  • Experience with compilers, domain-specific languages, or SSA-based intermediate representations; Kirin, MLIR, or LLVM experience is a plus.
  • Background in experimental physics, real-time or embedded control, FPGAs, experiment-control frameworks, real-time scheduling, C++ or Rust, open-source contributions, or AI coding agents.
