About the job

Designs, conducts, and analyzes abuse tests to assess energy storage product safety and robustness under extreme conditions and misuse scenarios.

What you'll do

  • Build test infrastructure for swift, safe, well-documented testing.
  • Identify failure modes and perform instrumented abuse tests, including short circuit, overvoltage, overheating, overcharge, and forced thermal propagation.
  • Use knowledge of failure mechanisms to help design products that are more robust to abuse.

What they ask for

  • Bachelor’s degree in physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of physics and the physics of failure.
  • Proven experience with abuse testing, specifically UL9540a and related thermal propagation testing.
  • Experience designing robust, fast-setup data acquisition rigs and actuation.

Nice to have

  • Proficiency with data analysis tools such as MATLAB, Minitab, or Python.
