About the job

Own and deliver the storage software platform for a space-based data center, from Linux drivers and ZFS design through network serving and automated recovery.

What you'll do

  • Develop Linux kernel drivers for NVMe fault recovery and GPIO overcurrent protection.
  • Design and validate ZFS pool architecture using reliability models and fault-injection testing.
  • Integrate NVMe controller recovery with ZFS and prototype, integrate, and prepare the platform for launch.

What they ask for

  • 5+ years writing Linux kernel code, including hands-on driver development involving PCI/PCIe devices, block storage, or interrupt-driven hardware.
  • Experience with storage systems such as ZFS or other copy-on-write filesystems, RAID, NVMe internals, or high-throughput network storage.
  • Depth in filesystem internals, block layer/device management, or storage protocol implementation.
  • Strong working knowledge of OS internals, including virtual memory, interrupt context constraints, synchronization primitives, and I/O stack behavior.

Nice to have

  • Hands-on experience at the driver–hardware boundary, including DMA coherency, MMIO semantics, PCIe enumeration, and cache behavior.
  • Experience with storage fault testing, low-level tracing or crash-dump analysis; embedded Linux build systems and hardware lab debugging are also listed as nice-to-haves.

Pay

$181,000 — $271,000 USD (base salary; hiring range)

Tools

Linux kernel, OpenZFS, NFS, NVMe, PCI/PCIe, ZFS, ftrace, perf
