About the job
Leads Render’s Platform team in modernizing its internal developer platform and shared infrastructure, setting technical direction and delivering improvements to developer experience, reliability, and engineering velocity.
What you'll do
- Lead, mentor, hire, and develop platform engineers while guiding technical decisions and team practices.
- Drive platform initiatives from planning through launch, balancing rapid delivery with reliability and quality.
- Partner with engineering, product, Runtime, and Security teams to align priorities and deliver developer-focused solutions.
What they ask for
- 8+ years as an Engineer on an Infrastructure or similarly shaped team shipping products or features for other developers.
- 4+ years managing people and developing engineers, including hiring, mentorship, and performance management.
- Strong technical background in system design, architecture, and engineering tradeoffs.
- Experience improving Reliability and/or Developer Experience; deep experience with open source technologies supporting platform tooling, CI/CD, observability, or configuration management.
Nice to have
- Background in highly scalable distributed systems or infrastructure platforms.
- Experience managing large fleets of developer environments, sandboxes, or testing ecosystems, or building products used directly by developers.

$204K – $280K USD base salary
