About the job

Lead an engineering pod building Runlayer’s enterprise AI platform, balancing people management, hands-on engineering, delivery, and quality.

What you'll do

  • Manage a pod of 6–10 engineers, including career development, performance, and hiring.
  • Review and ship code, debug production, and own delivery, quality, reliability, and on-call for the team’s area.
  • Help teams work effectively with AI agents by addressing review load, agent-written code, evaluations, and quality checks.

What they ask for

  • 7+ years in software engineering, including 2+ years managing engineers.
  • Prior experience as a strong senior individual contributor, with the ability to contribute to design reviews and incidents.
  • Experience growing a team at a startup, including hiring, setting standards, and making difficult personnel decisions.
  • Daily use of AI coding agents; fluency in Python or TypeScript and comfort with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform).

Nice to have

  • Early startup engineer at a company that grew from seed through Series B or beyond; experience building security, identity, infrastructure, or developer-tool products, or shipping to enterprise buyers with strict security and compliance requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with MCP, agent frameworks, or LLM-backed products; for the Platform role, experience carrying a pager and running production incident response.

AI focus

Lead an AI-native engineering team where agents write much of the code; use AI coding agents and establish review, evaluation, and quality checks for agent-written code. The team builds a platform for enterprise use of AI agents.
