Principal Software Engineer - Data Storage Lead

What you'll do

• Assess storage needs and benchmark technologies to maintain recommendations, reference architectures, and implementations.
• Guide data modeling, performance, distributed storage, caching, search, object storage, and backup and recovery practices.
• Mentor and advise engineers across teams, track adoption and outcomes, and update guidance as needs change.

What they ask for

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physical Sciences, or a related technical field.
• 10+ years of professional experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting production software systems, including significant data storage experience.
• Deep expertise with one or more relational databases and production experience with search/document stores, caches, or object storage.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance; proficiency in at least one listed backend language and comfort working in Linux development environments.

Nice to have

• Experience with technology standardization, technical governance, or internal platform/guidance efforts across multiple teams.
• Experience operating storage systems in containerized or Kubernetes environments, storage performance profiling and observability, or high-volume sensor or mission data workflows; active DoD Secret clearance or higher.

USD $151,000 - $201,000 / year (base salary)
