About the job

Develop and improve Skydio’s simulator to test and advance drone autonomy systems, modeling vehicle physics, sensors, and real-world behavior.

What you'll do

  • Design and implement simulator architecture, physics models, and high-fidelity sensor simulations.
  • Integrate and validate the autonomy stack in simulation; debug interactions among physics, sensors, autonomy, and rendering.
  • Develop and optimize simulator components in C++ and Python, collaborating with autonomy, perception, and controls engineers.

What they ask for

  • Strong software engineering experience with C++ and Python.
  • Experience building complex systems where performance, determinism, or correctness matter.
  • Comfort reasoning about time-synchronized systems, state machines, or real-time execution.
  • Ability to work in a large, evolving codebase with multiple stakeholders.

Nice to have

  • Robotics, simulation, game engines, or real-time systems experience.
  • Physics engines, sensor modeling, hardware abstraction layers, multithreaded or low-latency systems, or debugging software and physical behavior.
