What you'll do

• Lead research projects in user modeling and personalization, including generative modeling, recommendation systems, information retrieval, and efficiency.
• Build and evaluate scalable research prototypes in large-scale machine-learning scenarios; publish findings and mentor teammates and interns.
• Partner with engineering teams to bring research technology to Snapchat users.

What they ask for

• Strong knowledge of machine learning, information retrieval, personalization, and deep-learning literature; strong computer science, problem-solving, and engineering skills.
• Strong familiarity with PyTorch and hands-on distributed (multi-node and multi-GPU) model training, inference, and experimentation.
• Experience applying language models to generative search, ranking, and/or personalization.
• Track record of publications at top machine-learning, information-retrieval, or language venues; first-author publications preferred.

Nice to have

• Large-scale machine-learning research experience in academia or industry, or equivalent open-source experience.
• Experience with large-scale data processing, collection, or synthesis using enterprise cloud solutions; familiarity with post-training, preference optimization, search or recommendation interaction data, or recommender systems.

Pay

Zone A: USD $173,000-$259,000 annually (base salary); Zone B: USD $164,000-$246,000 annually (base salary); Zone C: USD $147,000-$220,000 annually (base salary)
