About the job

Owns the design and implementation of embedded power-control algorithms and functional safety software for SPAN’s safety-critical electrical panel, from development through testing and certification.

What you'll do

  • Design real-time power-management control algorithms and safety architecture for microcontrollers running in RTOS environments.
  • Own functional safety activities, including hazard analysis, FTA, SW-FMEA, safety mechanisms, and certification documentation.
  • Develop fault-injection and Hardware In the Loop testing methods, and promote functional safety practices across teams.

What they ask for

  • Deep knowledge of electrical power systems, including power conversion, load control, energy metering, and switching systems.
  • Experience designing real-time control algorithms on microcontrollers, including PID controllers, state machines, and RTOS software.
  • Hands-on functional safety process experience with UL 1998, UL 60730, and/or UL 3141, or an equivalent standard such as IEC 61508 or ISO 26262; includes FTA and SW-FMEA.
  • 7 or more years writing embedded software for hardware devices in C++ or object-oriented C on microcontrollers.

Nice to have

  • Proficiency using AI tools for software architecture, design, implementation, and testing.
  • Experience with STM32 or ARM Cortex-M processors, high-voltage or energy storage systems, solar inverters, electrical communication interfaces, JTAG debugging, or V-model development.
