Staff AI Engineer

What you'll do

• Design shared GenAI platform capabilities, including orchestration, prompt management, RAG, search and retrieval, and evaluation tooling.
• Create self-serve tools and workflows that help product teams ship AI features, and own delivery through production deployment and monitoring.
• Partner with engineering, product, and data teams to set technical direction and apply Strava’s fitness and geographic data to athlete experiences.

What they ask for

• 5+ years building and operating complex production AI or backend systems at scale.
• Experience building AI platform tooling or developer-facing infrastructure, with strong API design, versioning, and self-serve patterns.
• Production experience with LLMs, such as agentic workflows, RAG, or LLM evaluation.
• Proficiency in search systems and backend development using Python or Go; understanding of distributed systems and containerized infrastructure.

Nice to have

• AWS experience.
• Experience with tools like Langchain.

Pay

$260K – $280K USD base salary
