Mechatronics Engineer, Robotics

San Francisco Bay Area · On-site · Full-time · Posted Aug 15, 2026

Experience
4+ years of electrical engineering experience; meaningful time at a robotics company or on mobile or field robotic systems is also requested.

About the job

Own the electrical integration, embedded firmware, sensing, and real-time control that make a heavy-duty robotic machine operate reliably as a precision system.

What you'll do

  • Integrate power distribution, motor controllers, safety circuits, connectors, and harnesses; select and tune motors, drives, and actuators.
  • Build the sensing stack and develop embedded firmware and real-time control, including CAN bus architecture, control loops, fault handling, and telemetry.
  • Lead electrical testing, bring-up, and field debugging; design for harsh environments and support transition from prototype to small fleet.

What they ask for

  • 4+ years of electrical engineering experience, including meaningful time at a robotics company or on mobile or field robotic systems.
  • Deep knowledge of robot electrical systems, including power electronics, motor control, sensor integration, and signal integrity in noisy environments.
  • Embedded firmware skills in C or C++ for real-time control; experience with CAN or EtherCAT and debugging with a scope.
  • Track record taking an electromechanical system from schematic to working hardware; knowledge of functional safety, e-stop design, and interlocks.

Nice to have

  • Experience with high-power battery systems or electrical control of hydraulics.
  • Experience with off-highway, agricultural, construction, harsh-environment, or outdoor robotics.

Pay

Up to $15K USD relocation bonus; $1K USD monthly stipend for meals

Tools
