About the job
Maintains, repairs, fuels, and troubleshoots TerraFirma’s commercial earthworks fleet in the shop and at active job sites, including equipment with semi-autonomous systems.
What you'll do
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy earthworks equipment; perform scheduled maintenance and field repairs.
- Fuel machines on job sites, including towing and managing a diesel fuel trailer, and track equipment condition, service history, and parts.
- Provide basic troubleshooting for sensors, wiring, and hardware kits; coordinate with operators and respond to minimize downtime.
What they ask for
- Hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing commercial earthworks equipment such as dozers, excavators, or graders.
- Ability to perform scheduled maintenance and unplanned field repairs independently.
- Working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and heavy equipment electrical systems.
- Able to work independently, prioritize maintenance needs, and be available for on-call or short-notice response; willing to relocate to Austin, TX if not within commuting distance and work extended hours or weekends when needed.
Nice to have
- Experience troubleshooting electronic controls, sensors, or wiring harnesses; ASE or other relevant heavy equipment/diesel mechanic certifications.
- Experience in mobile or field-service maintenance, including towing and managing a fuel trailer, or in a fast-growing or startup environment.
