Trainer, Heavy Equipment

What you'll do

• Create and run an intensive, multi-week onboarding curriculum, including training materials, safety protocols, and certification standards.
• Instruct and evaluate trainees on safe, proficient operation of heavy civil equipment and TerraFirma’s remote-controlled and semi-autonomous systems.
• Track operator performance and refine training based on field results, incidents, and equipment changes.

What they ask for

• Extensive hands-on experience operating heavy civil equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, or graders.
• Direct experience designing or running a heavy equipment operator training program, school, or certification curriculum.
• Demonstrated ability to train and evaluate others on safe, proficient equipment operation.
• Strong organizational skills and comfort building structured training programs from scratch.

Nice to have

• Background teaching at a heavy equipment operator school or union apprenticeship program; military, first responder, or other high-performance training experience.
• Experience with traditional and remote-controlled or semi-autonomous equipment; OSHA or other relevant safety certifications; experience building programs in a fast-growing or startup environment.
