About the job

Develops neutronics and multiphysics simulations to assess and optimize the safety and performance of stellarator fusion systems.

What you'll do

  • Build workflows for high-fidelity neutronics and multiphysics simulations in complex 3D stellarator geometries, including blanket performance and radiation shielding.
  • Couple neutronics simulations with thermal-hydraulics or structural analysis to refine reactor designs.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and publications on simulation results and optimization findings.

What they ask for

  • Strong knowledge of Monte Carlo radiation transport codes, such as OpenMC, MCNP, or Serpent.
  • Proficiency in Python and C++.
  • Proficiency in software development practices such as git, GitHub, and CI.
  • Experience with multiphysics coupling frameworks such as MOOSE, Cardinal, or NekRS.

Nice to have

  • Experience with nuclear data processing and libraries, or deterministic neutron transport solvers.
  • Familiarity with HPC and parallel programming; machine learning experience in nuclear simulations or data handling is also listed as preferred.
