What you'll do
- Own cryogenic system architecture, thermal-hydraulic modeling, cooling distribution, and magnet integration.
- Lead quench and fault response, cryogenic plant integration, and management of major infrastructure and fabrication subcontractors.
- Plan and execute cryogenic and high-current magnet test campaigns, including cool-down, operation, quench mitigation, and warm-up.
What they ask for
- 10–15+ years of direct cryogenic engineering and thermal-hydraulic design experience for superconducting magnet systems, focused on HTS tape/cable architectures.
- Track record owning large-scale (> $10M+) magnet work packages in fusion programs or major scientific facilities.
- Expertise in high-current cabled HTS configurations and forced-flow cooling; experience taking at least one major system from concept through initial cool-down and operational validation.
- Familiarity with cryogenic pressure-vessel and safety standards, including ASME BPVC Section VIII, EN 13445, B31.3, and ISO 21010/CGA.
