Member of Technical Staff - Design Engineer

What you'll do

• Design and build core product experiences, from user flows and prototypes through production interfaces.
• Work with users and cross-functional teams to translate complex workflows into usable software and refine it through feedback.
• Develop the product’s visual language, interaction patterns, design system, and component foundations.

• Experience owning both design and frontend implementation of production-quality web applications, from exploration through launch.
• Strong product and design judgment for complex, information-dense software, including the ability to make ambiguous workflows understandable without losing important detail.
• Strong frontend engineering skills, especially with React, TypeScript, modern CSS, and component-based application architecture.
• Ability to work independently, learn quickly, communicate design and implementation decisions, and handle sensitive biological and national-security problems with discretion.

Nice to have

• Experience with analytical, scientific, developer, operational, or other data-rich software, including data visualizations beyond conventional dashboards.
• Experience with design systems, AI-assisted design and development tools, early-stage products, or computational biology, bioinformatics, biodefense, or national security.
