$190K–$250K
Palo Alto HQ · Hybrid · Full-time · Posted Jun 10, 2026
About the job
Build and validate runtime evaluation mechanisms that empirically assess the correctness and value of physics simulation systems combining machine learning and numerical solvers.
What you'll do
- Evaluate solutions developed by Machine Learning and Solver teams and design a runtime evaluation mechanism.
- Develop a data-driven case for the evaluation mechanism and work with software engineers to implement and validate it.
- Collaborate across physics, AI research, software engineering, and computational geometry teams.
What they ask for
- Prior experience using or building physics simulators, such as FEM, FEA, Molecular Dynamics, or FDTD.
- Experience as a systems engineer in a production environment and collaborative work with scientists and engineers.
- Basic understanding of solver mechanisms, including numerical optimization, convergence criteria, and dampening approaches; working knowledge of ML basics.
- Understanding of statistics and data science methods, including confidence intervals, uncertainty quantification, or Bayes method.
Nice to have
- Production software systems engineering experience in Robotics, Chip Manufacturing, or Aerospace.
- Experience validating a production ML system or leveraging simulation for design or data generation.
