$120K–$160K

New York Office (HQ) · On-site · Full-time · Posted Oct 20, 2026

Experience
4+ years; exceptional candidates at other experience levels are considered.
Education
MS in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Optics, or a related field, or a BS with equivalent experience; PhD a plus.

About the job

Own the control, calibration, and validation of optical circuit switch photonic devices, from characterization and algorithm design through driver requirements and firmware verification.

What you'll do

  • Characterize photonic devices and develop calibration routines and closed-loop control algorithms, prototyping in Python.
  • Define and validate driver-electronics requirements, and provide firmware teams with algorithm specifications and reference implementations.
  • Build and automate test setups, then validate firmware-implemented control against Python references.

What they ask for

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in control, calibration, or characterization of optical, photonic, or other precision physical systems; exceptional candidates at other experience levels are also considered.
  • Strong control and estimation fundamentals, photonic device physics knowledge, and mixed-signal electronics literacy.
  • Proficiency in Python; hands-on lab equipment experience and demonstrated test-setup automation.
  • MS in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Optics, or a related field, or a BS with equivalent experience; must be able to work on-site.

Nice to have

  • Experience controlling or calibrating silicon photonic circuits, tunable lasers, optical switches, or coherent/datacom transceivers.
  • Experience with multi-channel calibration, dither or lock-in stabilization, embedded C/C++, FPGA, real-time systems, or hardware-in-the-loop frameworks.

Pay

USD $120K – $160K base salary

Tools

Python, embedded C/C++, FPGA, DAC/ADC
