About the job
Own and operate production commerce systems for Zipline’s Marketplace, including merchant tools, partner integrations, dispatch policies, fulfillment, and billing and settlements.
What you'll do
- Design, ship, and operate commerce services end-to-end, including production reliability and incident response.
- Lead partner integrations and cross-functional launches; build marketplace policy controls, rollout plans, and operational tooling.
- Set reliability and business metrics, improve outcomes, and mentor engineers through architecture reviews and durable design decisions.
What they ask for
- 5+ years building and shipping production distributed systems and web applications, with ownership across frontend, backend, and data/streaming pipelines.
- Production-at-scale experience shipping transactional commerce, payments, billing, or marketplace systems, or equivalent experience operating financial reconciliation and settlements pipelines.
- Strong API design, ledger data modelling, eventual consistency, schema migrations, idempotency, and retry semantics; demonstrated on-call and incident leadership.
- Deep proficiency in one or more of Go, Python, or scalable backend languages; React or similar experience; familiarity with Kafka, gRPC, PostgreSQL, AWS, Grafana, Honeycomb, and Bazel is required for day-one productivity.
Nice to have
- Preferred to be based near the primary office for hybrid work and coordination.
Pay
USD $180,000 - $270,000 starting cash range (base salary)
