About the job
Develop machine learning models and datasets to improve the realism of simulated autonomous-vehicle sensor data and reduce sim-to-real gaps.
What you'll do
- Design, train, and validate models for simulated lidar, radar, and camera data; integrate 3DGS and NeRF-based reconstruction into sensor simulation.
- Build and curate real and simulated sensor datasets, including GenAI-based augmentation, and define sensor realism metrics with partner teams.
- Mentor engineers and interns, and establish best practices for training and deploying ML on Zoox sensor data.
What they ask for
- 5+ years developing ML models in Python with PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- 2+ years of prior experience as a Technical Lead.
- Industry experience applying ML to sensor data (lidar, radar, and/or cameras).
- Solid understanding of customizing, tuning, and validating ML training pipelines.
Nice to have
- Experience with generative techniques such as diffusion, flow matching, or VAEs.
- Experience with 3D reconstruction (3DGS, NeRFs), differentiable rendering, or autonomy in AVs or other robotics and computer vision.
